Mowery Delivers High-Precision Clean Room Facility for Aquabiliti
Mowery successfully completed a design-build project for Aquabiliti in Emigsville, PA, transforming an existing facility into a specialized pharmaceutical production space. The project included the construction of four clean rooms designed for precision water production, supporting both equipment and industry standards.
Comprehensive Scope and Execution
Mowery managed the entire design-build process, overseeing everything from metal stud drywall installation to mechanical work and flooring. The project spanned from September 2022 to November 2023 and required careful coordination due to the complexities of working within an existing structure.
Key Contributions
In addition, Berkshire Mechanical played a crucial role in the successful delivery of the HVAC and mechanical systems for the clean rooms. Their collaboration with the Mowery team helped ensure the facility met the necessary environmental standards for pharmaceutical-grade water production, seamlessly integrating these critical systems within the facility.
Overcoming Challenges
During construction, Mowery addressed vermiculate insulation containing asbestos, requiring abatement work in multiple areas, including under VCT flooring. Additionally, an underground storm sewer system, which connected the building’s roof downspouts, was discovered to be severely damaged and required significant repairs.
Strong Communication and Project Expansion
Through weekly meetings with the owner, Mowery maintained clear communication, allowing for effective decision-making as the project’s scope evolved. The team’s ability to adapt and provide strategic solutions reinforced Mowery’s expertise in complex renovations.
Showcasing Mowery’s Expertise
This project highlighted Mowery’s strengths in design-build execution and problem-solving in older structures. By conducting thorough site surveys and collaborating closely with the owner, Mowery ensured the facility met Aquabiliti’s high standards while addressing unforeseen conditions efficiently.
“The team was able to overcome several challenges within the confines of the existing building, and the result has exceeded our expectations. The clean rooms not only meet but perform beyond the ISO 7 requirements, ensuring we are able to maintain the highest standards for our medical device manufacturing. We greatly appreciate the attention to detail and the dedication your team demonstrated throughout the project. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to excellence. We look forward to continuing our partnership on future projects”
