Mowery’s Special Projects Group, Director of Design, Steve Knaub, and the Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce worked together to cast the vision for the Swarner Mansion’s renovation. The goal was to keep the building true to its heritage while making subtle adaptations for function. Design choices were carefully made to keep the building era-specific, such as preservation palette wall colors, light fixtures, door knobs and reusing trim for new doorways. During the renovation process, the team discovered a shingle that was signed by one of the carpenters in 1907. In an effort to preserve the building’s history, it was framed and presented to the client for display in the foyer as a reminder of the mansion’s past.
