Mowery Expands John Graham Library with New Addition 

Mowery recently completed a design-build expansion for John Graham Library in Newville, PA, enhancing the facility with an expanded children’s area and additional space for the library’s Friends group, which hosts book sales and fundraisers. 

Comprehensive Scope and Execution 

Mowery managed the entire project, with operations superintendents leading construction efforts. The project, which ran from August 2023 to January 2024, seamlessly integrated the addition with the existing structure. 

Navigating a Small Site with Smart Solutions 

One of the biggest challenges was the extremely limited site, requiring careful logistics for equipment and material deliveries. To facilitate construction, Mowery installed a temporary driveway, ensuring smooth workflow despite space constraints. 

Cost Efficiency Without Compromising Quality 

To maintain the look of both older and newer design elements, our team seamlessly attached the addition to the existing library, updating the siding with Hardie plank and installing a new roof for a uniform look. 

Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration 

Regular progress meetings with stakeholders ensured alignment and transparency throughout the project, keeping the library staff and community informed on the phases of work.
