On Friday, September 27 at 10 a.m., Mowery, an industry-leading construction company, and Feeser’s Food Distributors, the largest independent food distributor in Central Pennsylvania, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to formally dedicate a new, 20,000-square-foot cold-storage addition at Feeser’s site in Swatara Township.
Local and county leaders including Representative Thomas Mehaffie, Dauphin County Commissioners Mike Pries and George Hartwick, Robert J. DeSousa, State Director for Patrick J. Toomey, U.S. Senator of PA. and individuals from the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce attended the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate this new addition. The new, 20,000-square-foot cold-storage unit will host refrigerated foods and includes custom racking and a ripening room, which will allow Feeser’s to maintain its reputation as the largest independent food distributor in the region.
“Working to build refrigeration storage requires expertise in distribution facilities to ensure all project components are designed, installed and tested to operate at peak performance standards. I am proud of the Mowery team for building this cold-storage facility as if it were their own and providing our client with a finished product that will allow them to have continuous growth and success for years to come,” said David Cross, president and owner of Mowery.
“This was the first time Feeser’s had engaged the services of a design-build contractor, and we couldn’t be happier. Mowery did an outstanding job from beginning to the end. Their ability to build this structure on time, under 6 months, was truly impressive,” said Todd Kaufman, COO of Feeser’s.
Feeser’s currently employs 320 individuals, but with the additional capacity the new cold-storage unit offers, they plan to grow their employee base and footprint in the industry.
“We take great pride in being the largest food distributor in the region. To maintain this position and offer best-in-class service to our clients, we knew expanding our business was a priority and this 20,000 square-foot cold-storage facility helps us continue to achieve our goals.
We are excited to see where this growth takes us,” said Michele N. M. Latta, CEO of Feeser’s Food Distributors.
