On April 25, 2025, Mowery Construction had the privilege of attending the groundbreaking ceremony for Juniata College’s newest project—the Gateway Center. This exciting milestone marks the beginning of a transformational educational building construction effort that will directly benefit both students and the wider central Pennsylvania community.

The upcoming facility is a $16 million, three-story building that will launch a brand-new nursing program at Juniata College. The first two floors of the Gateway Center will house medical clinics offering essential healthcare services to the local community. The third floor will serve as an educational space where nursing students gain hands-on experience—bridging the gap between learning and real-world practice.

This innovative approach to educational building construction demonstrates how facilities can serve dual purposes: enhancing academic training while meeting critical healthcare needs. As shortages in the medical industry persist, especially in rural areas, Juniata College emphasized that serving the local community is a top priority.

For Mowery Construction, this project represents far more than a building. It’s an investment in the future workforce and a commitment to improving lives through thoughtful educational building construction. The Gateway Center is the fourth project Mowery has completed with Juniata College, reflecting a continued partnership dedicated to advancing arts, athletics, academics, and community engagement.

We are honored to construct a facility that will shape the next generation of healthcare professionals while addressing urgent regional medical needs. The Juniata Gateway Center will stand as a model of how educational building construction can create opportunities and make a meaningful impact.
